Today updated this blog’s Centmin Mod LEMP stack PHP-FPM to PHP 7.0.1 with added PHP Redis PHP Extension support and enabled Nginx level Redis caching + Redis Object Caching. The switch from WordPress Super Cache plugin to this WordPress Redis caching combination will result in much faster site for this 2GB DigitalOcean KVM VPS. I came across Locust load testing tool which is an open source Python based load testing tool which allows distributed master and slave load testing against a target web site (this blog). I setup a master & slave Locust load tester server cluster with 2 dedicated servers I have – Las Vegas, Nevada Intel Xeon E3-1240v3 32GB, 250GB SSD server as master Locust server and a Montreal, Canada Intel Xeon Xeon E3-1245v2 32GB, 3x120GB SSD server as slave.

This time using Siege http load testing tool. Centmin Mod LEMP web stack installer already includes installation of Siege benchmark tool by default, so makes testing quite easy. You would need to run Siege benchmark tool from a separate server from the target test web server/site you want to test as Siege uses server resources itself (cpu and memory).

This time for WordPress Super Cache benchmarks using Apachebench tool (available via the httpd-tools YUM package) launched from remote Las Vegas based server running CentOS 6.5 to test this blog’s index page served from a 2GB KVM based DigitalOcean KBM VPS + CentOS 7.0 using Centmin Mod LEMP web stack and PHP 7.0.0-dev (PHP NG) . Apachebench benchmark run was tested with keepalives enabled and 1000 user concurrency with 20,000 requests.

WordPress Super Cache Benchmarks (Blitz.io load test) 237 million hits/day

Blitz.io load tested this WordPress blog’s index page with 8000 users over 60 seconds with California region. This time no TCP errors as I did a few optimisation tweaks including lowering the memory allocation to MariaDB MySQL to free up more memory for Nginx and PHP-FPM (below memory usage charts show this as a dip in peak memory usage).

WordPress Super Cache in action + Centmin Mod LEMP web stack = 237+ million hits/day or 7.12 billion hits per month with peak of 4,158 hits/second and an average of 2,748 hits/second. Average response time was 298ms with slowest being 882ms once it hit 7664 user mark.
